Health physicists must be familiar not only with the application of radiation protection principles to accident management, but also with medical terminology and procedures, and both on-scene and in-hospital emergency medical care. Challenges include interaction with medical personnel, dose assessment, public information, and post-accident interactions with managers and investigators, and possibly attorneys.
