This course is designed to provide a high level overview of the USDA food guidelines and share strategies to incorporate nutrition practices into the workplace and individuals' lives. According to the Center's for Disease Control and Prevention, chronic Disease affects more than 50% of the workforce and employers can play a mediating role by promoting proper nutrition and providing resources to engage in healthy food and beverage behaviors. Employers are interested in reducing rates of chronic disease and reducing health risk factors because employers bear about 58% of total employee medical costs (Girod CS, Weltz SA, Heart SK., 2015).
Target Audience:
This course is intended for those interested in learning about the fundamentals of nutrition, how to promote nutrition at work, and strategies for creating healthy and nutritious work environments.
